Monte Vista High School, Danville CA - Learning Outreach Club

Ariya Ghoshal
Co-Founder & president

Hi! My name is Ariya Ghoshal and I am a junior at Monte Vista High school.  I have been part of the Learning Outreach club since my Freshman year and Co-Founded the club with my sister, Amaya Ghoshal. Growing up in Danville, I have been fortunate to have access to unlimited educational resources and have benefited from an excellent school system. Most of this access is due to my family’s socioeconomic status. Unfortunately, those that are economically disadvantaged simply don’t have this access to educational resources. I am passionate about better understanding the socioeconomic disparities both locally and globally. In the past few years, I’ve helped fund and tutor economically disadvantaged students in order to bridge the learning gap and give the students more options for their future. Being part of this club has shifted my perspective entirely by allowing me to see just how privilege correlates to better opportunities and greater future economic prosperity.

Elaina Nassoura
vice president

Hi! My name is Elaina Nassoura and I am a senior at Monte Vista. I love helping students which is why I tutor both locally and internationally (in the Middle East). Some other hobbies I have include playing competitive soccer, piano, painting, reading, and baking. As Vice President of Learning Outreach I focus on tutoring, promoting current projects, and teaching others about education-related current events. I have been tutoring for this club since the beginning of junior year and have been able to build strong relationships with my students. I am very excited to be tutoring again and am hoping to help a student receive a better education which can give them better opportunities in the future. I am ready to make a change and am looking forward to this year!

Daphne Chan
secretary

Hi, I'm Daphne Chan and I'm a junior at Monte Vista this year. I have been a member of Learning Outreach since my freshman year and am looking forward to serving as the secretary of the club! Some of my hobbies include playing guitar, baking, painting, and spending time with my family and our Shih-Tzu, Emmie. In my free time, I also enjoy tutoring younger students in math and science, as well as volunteering for organizations and events such as the Red Cross and Walk to End Alzheimer's. I am passionate about serving the community and helping others in need, and it is my goal to reach as many disadvantaged students as possible through Learning Outreach. I am excited to serve as your secretary this year!

Hi, I'm Jayna! I joined Learning Outreach because I love teaching little kids and helping others. I think that learning can be a really enjoyable experience and I hope to pass along my knowledge and experience to others. In my free time, I like to play spikeball, hang out with my friends, and watch the sunset.

Hi I’m Lindsay Henningsen and I’m a senior at Monte Vista High School. I’ve been apart of the Learning Outreach Club for two years now and am excited to continue to help tutor students, complete volunteer work and manage our social media position. I love to work with kids and help them learn information that was harder to understand before and am excited to keep building relations while working with the students. In addition, I hope to coordinate more events throughout the upcoming school year as well as promote our current activities via social media. Being apart of this club has given me the chance to help others that wouldn’t normally be able to get tutoring services. In the future, I hope to help more kids that are at a disadvantage with food drives, a strong tutoring assistance and other forms of donations locally and globally.
